  • Milk (1 liter)
  • Sugar (1 cup)
  • Pineapple (1 can, chopped)
  • Peaches (1 can, chopped)
  • Mangoes (2, chopped)
  • Almonds (1/2 cup, chopped)
  • Pistachios (1/2 cup, chopped)
  • Cream (1/2 cup)
  • Chum chum small size (6-8) 
  • Gulab jamun small size (6-8)

Step 1: Boil the vermicelli

In a pot, boil the vermicelli according to the instructions on the packet. Once it’s cooked, drain the water and rinse the vermicelli with cold water or tap water to stop the cooking process.

Step 2: Add the milk and sugar

In a separate pot, heat the milk and sugar on medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the boiled vermicelli to the pot and mix well.

Step 3: Add the fruits and nuts

Add the chopped pineapple, peaches, mangoes, almonds, and pistachios to the pot and mix well. Keep stirring the mixture for about 5-7 minutes until the fruits and nuts are evenly distributed.

Step 4: Add the cream

Finally, turn off the flame add the cream, gulab jamun, and chum chum to the pot, and mix well.

Step 5: Chill and serve

Transfer the Lab-e-Shireen to a serving dish and let it cool down to room temperature. Once it’s cooled down, put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. Garnish with some chopped nuts before serving.

  • You can use any fruits of your choice in the recipe. However, pineapple, peaches, and mangoes are the most commonly used fruits in Lab-e-Shireen.
